NEMWI Note to the Coalitions: Superstorm Sandy Appropriations

Superstorm Sandy hit along the Atlantic Coast and came into the Great Lakes region over multiple days at the end of October, 2012. In response, the U.S. Senate voted to appropriate $60 billion on December 28, 2012 at the end of the 112th Congress. The House did not vote on the package in the 112th Congress. On January 4, 2013, the House and the Senate voted to provide $9.7 billion to the National Flood Insurance Program for Superstorm Sandy relief. As part of a second phase of emergency disaster appropriations, the House is considering H.R. 152, the Disaster Relief Appropriations Act.
