The Association of State Drinking Water Administrators (ASDWA) wrote an article for its Source Water News in June 2018 in which it discussed the Northeast-Midwest Institute’s report, Source Water Quality and the Cost of Nitrate Treatment in the Mississippi River Basin. It focused on how “[t]he report shares the findings of a ten-year study showing that levels of nitrate in source water exceeding the SDWA maximum contaminant level of 10 mg/L are occurring with increasing frequency.” The article also mentioned that the Institute pushed for “conservation initiatives and water quality monitoring” at the Congressional briefing it co-hosted with Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN).
