| *NOTE: The President’s Budget proposes to eliminate three programs within HUD—the HOPE VI program, the Brownfields and Economic Development Initiative (BEDI), and HUD Section 108 Loan Guaranty Program. However, the Administration is proposing two new programs aimed at increasing the overall effectiveness of HUD. In FY2009, the HOPE VI program was appropriated $100 million. In lieu of HOPE VI the Administration is requesting $250 million for a new Choice Neighborhoods Initiative. In addition, the Budget is proposing to establish a Housing Trust Fund and provides $1 billion in initial capital. |
