Fresh Produce About US

This website was developed and is maintained by Allen Hance and Gus Schumacher, with assistance from Jason Newman, Nikhil Agarwal, and George Krumbhaar. Initial funding was provided by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and technical assistance was given by Vanguard Communications.

We are grateful for their support. We would appreciate updates on new sources of funding or corrections to existing sources and we will make them promptly to keep the "resource guide" current.

Allen Hance is a senior policy analyst at the Northeast-Midwest Institute, where he directs the Agriculture Policy Project. The Northeast-Midwest Institute is a Washington-based, private, non-profit, and non-partisan research organization dedicated to economic vitality, environmental quality, and regional equity for Northeast and Midwest states.

Gus Schumacher, Jr., a consultant to the Kellogg Foundation, is the former Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Prior to his appointment as Under Secretary, he was the Administrator of USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. Before coming to USDA, Mr. Schumacher served at the World Bank and as the Massachusetts Commissioner of Food and Agriculture.
