Overview of Chesapeake Bay Watershed Activities
The Northeast-Midwest Institute analyzes and distributes information on interstate watershed management issues within the Chesapeake Bay watershed and the Mid-Atlantic river basins (i.e., the Delaware, Susquehanna, and Potomac Rivers). Staff also organize briefings on Capitol Hill and track basin-related projects and appropriations. To advance these efforts, Institute staff work closely with the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Task Force, co-chaired by Reps. Wayne Gilchrest (R-MD), Bobby Scott (D-VA), Tom Davis (R-VA) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and the three bipartisan Mid-Atlantic River Basin Task Forces. These bipartisan task forces were established to provide a forum for the exchange of information between members of Congress, their staff, and federal, state, and local entities with active regulatory oversight and outreach responsibilities in the Mid-Atlantic basins and entire Chesapeake watershed.
