Comment: Mr. Verhoff sent a scale drawing with calculations for a 12,000gpm system including capital costs. The boiler would produce 670hp and weigh approximately 40,000lbs. The Boiler would at max burn ~ 165gal/hr of #6 fuel oil. The estimated cost was $600K.

Comment: This company markets thermal treatment systems for use on zebra mussels. The information received contained a scale drawn shipboard system and further investigation confirmed that they have completed some preliminary work on ballast-water treatment systems. They are willing to do R&D and also produce heat exchangers.

Comment: WSI is marketing Electro Ionization / Magnetic Separation (EI/MS) technology, the equipment system consists of Plasma Gas Generators, Direct Current Electro-Coagulation Turbulators and Horizontal Mag-Sep Filters or Electropresses. This technology has not been used for this specific application. The company seems interested in developing a system that could be used for ballast water treatment.
